We try to keep our prices as competitive as possible and you will see that we often have “special offers” or “weekend deals” on the website.  We started as clipper specialists in 1993 and this is still our core business.  However, as businesses evolve we have taken on more products and during the show/event season we attend British Eventing competitions mainly in the South West.

This has enabled us to stock more items for eventing, cross country and competition use and now includes the Point Two air jackets which inflate in 0.1 seconds, together with How’s Racesafe body protectors and a range of riding hats from Charles Owen.
We have recently taken on the Nomad 18 V battery operated Horse Wash which is basically a portable pressure washer.  This carries around 14 litres of water and has a nozzle that sprays from a fine mist to a powerful jet.  The Nomad 18 V horse wash is great for the one or two horse owner, and has a multitude of uses both at competitions and in the stable yard.  An absolute must if there is also no handy water supply in the stable yard.

We supply many brands of horse clippers and trimmers including Lister, Wolseley, Hauptner,  Heiniger and Moser. We also carry a wide range of dog clippers including Oster, Andis, Aesculap and Wahl which can be used by the professional groomer and home owner/groomer.  These are also widely used by vets.

For sheep shearing we favour Lister and Heiniger clippers and keep in stock all the appropriate sheep combs and cutters. For cattle clipping we offer heavy duty clippers made by the British company Lister Shearing but also recommend Wolseley and Hauptner as alternative brands of heavy duty clippers.

Lister clippers are a particularly good buy at the moment, with prices being extremely competitive. The Lister Star is a very reliable medium duty clipper with easy to tension blades.  The Lister Legend is the new heavy duty model in their range.  Designed for clipping a larger number of animals, it is still easy to hold and comparatively light in weight for a machine with such power.  The Lister Liberty, an all time favourite within the horse world, is probably the most versatile of all the horse clippers.  The Lister Liberty Popular pack can be powered off a small clip on battery, or used off the mains, using a mains conversion kit, or from a 12V car battery, using vehicle leads.
 
Lister trimmers are also great to use especially for all the fiddly bits and sensitive areas. The Lister Pico is the smallest of the trimmers and can be fitted in the palm of the hand.  The Lister Meteor is an old favourite and has a snap on blade.  The Lister Meteor is a very quiet and efficient trimmer and comfortable to hold.  The Lister Legato is the largest of the trimmers, and has a blade adjustment lever on the side of the machine.  The Lister Libretto is fairly new to the Lister clipper range.  The Lister Libretto is classed as light duty, but can be used for trimming or part/full body clips if the coat was not too coarse and thick.  It operates from a 12V battery pack giving 4 hours work time or can also be powered from a mains adaptor or 12V vehicle leads.

The Lister Libretto like the Lister Liberty is a really versatile clipper/trimmer and takes snap on Lister blades, enabling a wider blade (No 10W) to be used for larger areas and a narrower blade (No 10) which it comes with, for the more fiddly areas.
A similar clipper is the Heiniger Saphir.  It is primarily aimed at the showing, veterinary, dog grooming market. The Heiniger Saphir takes snap-on blades like Oster, Andis and Wahl clippers.  Supplied with 2 batteries, each battery will clip for 45-60 minutes and recharges in 30 - 40 minutes. In field trials with this clipper, operators have said that this is the most powerful clipper of it’s type. It is top quality as you would expect from Heiniger.

For the stable and yard we have a great range of Tub Trugs, Borstiq Farmers Brooms, Corn brooms, gorilla brooms, stable forks and brushes. The tub trugs are the most versatile way of carrying water, feed, muck etc! We also supply solar powered stable lighting which brings light to the stable, shed, feed/tack room. Solar powered stable lighting is a very green way of providing power to outdoor areas, and is particularly useful where there is no mains power. We also supply solar powered electric fence energisers. The Wolselely SX300 which powers up to 20 miles of single line fencing and the Wolseley Solar bug which powers up to 5 miles. Both the Wolseley Solar Bug and the Wolseley SX300 are brilliant to have particularly if there is no mains power.

For the horse, we stock Premier Equine Products including the Premier Equine Extreme Cross Country Boots, the Premier Equine Ballistic no turn over reach boots along with the Premier Equine Fly masks, the Premier Equine Saddlecloths, and Premier Equine Sheepskin lined saddle cloths and numnahs.

For the competition horse we have a wide range of horse shoe studs including Liveryman pointed jump studs, Liveryman standard jump studs, Stromsholm competition studs and the full range of Supastuds which are self cleaning. The Supastuds are made from a really high grade steel and available in 14 different types.

Within the dog grooming range of products we stock the Mars range including the Mars Coat King grooming tools which are fantastic for thinning and taking out the thick under coat.  Mars Coat Kings are made in Solingen, Germany and are used by both the professional and amateur dog groomer with excellent results.  Mars Coat Kings are available in a range of grades to suit all types of hair and give a very neat finish.

Clippersharp provides a dog blade sharpening service and also clipper blade sharpening for vets. Clippersharp also sharpens scissors and has a scissor sharpening service as well as offering a clipper repair service for all makes of animal clippers.

During the winter we are particularly busy with sharpening horse blades and repairing horseclippers, as this is the time when they are most needed by our equestrian customers.

It is best to ring and check with us during September to January how long it will take for horse clipper repairs and horse clipper blade sharpening.  We generally try to sharpen and return horse and pet blades within a couple of days, but there can be a delay at peak times.  Horse clipper repairs and servicing normally takes around a week, but best to check when its busy.

We have also taken on the Carr Day and Martin range of products, these are made to exacting standards and some are taken from very old recipes.  This includes the original product made over a 100 years ago – the Belvoir Glycerine saddle soap.  A lot of the products that we stock we have tried on our own horses so we know they are effective and good value.  This also includes the Barrier Hygiene range, they have particularly good fly repellents.  Barrier Hygiene produces products that are non-irritant and are great on sensitive skinned animals.

Smart Grooming is our sister company set up in 2006 and offers the full range of Smart Tails, Smart Manes and Smart Coats and other innovative grooming products. This range is also available to Trade and Wholesale customers. Trade enquiries should be made directly to Smart grooming – there is a link on the www.smartgrooming.co.uk site.  Smart Tails is the product that enabled tails to be tidied humanely.  Smart Tails can be used on even the most sensitive of horses to give a show ring finish in minutes.  Smart Manes is also brilliant for thinning thick manes humanely and effectively.  Smart Manes is just used in a downward action and all horses will tolerate it.  Smart Coats is the easy way to comb out thick coats and particularly good on donkeys and Cushings ponies where the coat is thick and doesn’t come out easily.  Smart Tails, Smart Coats and Smart Manes are all available from us on line from the Clippersharp website or if you are a trade customer and wishing to stock them please contact our www.smartgrooming.co.uk website.

We have also added a fantastic range of horse grooming brushes, which are made in Sweden by a company called Borstiq Farm.  These Borstiq brushes are made from mostly natural fibre and have been ergonomically designed for ease of handling.  The Borstiq banana brushes and Borstiq mini broom brushes come in soft finishing, medium and coarse and are ideal for both stable and field kept horses.  For the full range refer to the Borstiq Brushes page.

We fit Point Two air jackets at both our shop at Southwoods Farm, Culmstock Devon as well as at British Eventing events in the South West.  We alsol stock the Children’s Point Two air jackets and these have to be fitted by an approved fitter and stockist.  This we can also do.  Point Two Air jackets combine the latest airbag technology within a stylish and comfortable jacket.  Why compromise safety when riding?
