Mary King appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Devon

    30th March 2016

Mary King appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Devon

It was wonderful to start the 2016 event season at Moreton. The ground was sticky, but Billy, Bobby and Joey thoroughly enjoyed putting into practice all they have learnt so far. Sadly Tweseldown cancelled the following weekend due to so much rain. But Aldon was lucky with the weather and the going was perfect. My three all did their second BE Novice event and jumped double clears. Each are so willing and trusting, but still a bit green and wobbly to be competitive, but it won't be long!

Emily started her season in great form winning the first OIu21 trial of the year at Aldon, and was also 3rd. Brookleigh had the first of his 3 pre Badminton runs. He led the dressage, and cruised easily XC. Burnham Mkt CIC*** is his next big run where Em will hope to be competitive.

We did a lecture/demo at Hadlow College in front of a full house, plus 4 evening talks during the last month including one at the lovely River Cottage. Emily was meant to be joining me but was ill, so it was a great opportunity to treat our hard working head girl, Emma Hartwell, to the delicious meal!

I feel very honoured to have been appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Devon. As much as I love traveling, my roots are firmly in Devon, and I am extremely proud to be representing my county.
