How many lights will I need?

We have listed the recommended number of lights and the most suitable set up for some common arena sizes below. These arrangements show the layout for a flatwork arena - the additional lights required for jumping will be positioned down the long side of the arena.

Fitting

The ArenaLight can be fixed to a standard scaffolding pole (recommended height of 4m) or fixed directly to a wall. For an Arena setting, we would recommend setting the light angle to 30° as shown.

Clippersharp provides a fully comprehensive fitting service. We cover the majority of England and Wales – for a free quote and to book, please Email us information about the size of your Arena and location.

If you are looking to fit the lights yourself, we can provide you with a detailed explanation of how to fit upon purchase.

Using your ArenaLights

  • You only need to use one remote control to power multiple lights.(Multiple remote contols are supplied)  Before use in the timed illumination mode, each light will need to be activated by the remote (when positioned within a distance of 8m). If operating in the Motion Activated Mode, a remote will not be required.
  • The ArenaLight has a battery saving feature and will only illuminate during periods of darkness. They will therefore not illuminate until after dusk.
  • The solar panel should be positioned facing upwards to receive maximal sunlight. Wherever possible, the solar cell should not be positioned in shady areas.
  • It is important to take note of the operating instructions when installing the lights as the solar panel must be activated correctly.

Operating Times

To fully charge the battery from flat, ArenaLight will require 10 hours of sufficient sunlight. The operating times listed below apply to a fully charged battery. ArenaLight has two modes of operation, both of which are activated by a supplied remote control:

Motion Activated (PIR) Mode: 50 hours

ArenaLight will be functioning in this mode from new. The light will be illuminated during periods of darkness at a low level brightness (50 lumens) until its PIR detects movement within 8m. The LED brightness will then increase to 500 lumens for 30 seconds or until the trigger has left the 8m radius.

 Timed Illumination Mode: 500 lumen – 12 hours; 1000 lumen – 6 hours

ArenaLight does work on a time-bank basis; the longer they are left to charge without use, the longer their operating time. These times will vary depending on weather conditions and may be reduced on overcast days.

Due to variations with the weather and daylight hours, we would not recommend these lights for a commercial setting where use in the Timed Illumination mode will be required on a daily basis. Examples include large livery yards/riding schools.
